Strangler-fig migration
A phased, zero-downtime migration to Microsoft Azure, replacing legacy ERP modules one at a time with modern, custom-built microservices.
Enterprise software, built and audited in India.
The client was crippled by a fragmented, legacy on-premise ERP system over 15 years old. Different regional offices ran different versions of the software, leading to massive data silos and making it impossible for executives to gain a real-time, unified view of global operations.
The engagement
This client is a massive, multinational manufacturing conglomerate with a complex global supply chain, operating dozens of factories and distribution centers across Europe and Asia. They manufacture a wide range of industrial components and rely heavily on precise logistics, inventory management, and real-time data analysis to maintain operational efficiency and profitability.
The on-premise infrastructure was expensive to maintain, suffered frequent hardware failures, and lacked robust disaster recovery capabilities.
The primary challenge was migrating this monolithic, mission-critical ERP system to the cloud without disrupting 24/7 global manufacturing operations, unifying data across all regions, and implementing a modern, intuitive user interface for thousands of employees.
The build
The architectural moves that replaced the system described above, in the order they shipped.

Azure Data Lake Storage consolidated data from all regional silos into one source of truth.
Azure Data Factory runs the complex extract, transform and load pipelines feeding the lake.
The backend was rewritten on C# and .NET Core for enterprise-grade performance and deep integration with the Azure ecosystem.
A React and Redux dashboard gives employees real-time visibility into inventory levels, production schedules and logistics tracking.
Azure Machine Learning models forecast supply chain disruptions and optimize inventory routing.

Stack & architecture
Security was not a phase at the end of this build. It was engineered into the same release as the functionality it protects.
Azure Active Directory provides centralized identity and access management, enabling Single Sign-On and Conditional Access policies across the entire global workforce.
Cloud infrastructure is continuously monitored for misconfigurations and vulnerabilities.
All data at rest is encrypted using customer-managed keys (CMK) stored in Azure Key Vault.
Azure ExpressRoute establishes private connections between the client’s on-premise factories and Azure, so sensitive manufacturing data never traverses the public internet.
Measured results
Every figure below was reported by the client after go-live.
Achieved by eliminating on-premise servers.
The unified data lake gave executives real-time global visibility, and data-driven decisions reduced excess inventory costs by 15% within six months.
Predictive analytics models successfully forecast a major supply chain disruption, allowing the company to proactively reroute shipments.
The modern React-based frontend reduced the time required to process complex logistical orders by 30%.
